Bringing Online Egocentric Action Recognition Into the Wild

نویسندگان

چکیده

To enable a safe and effective human-robot cooperation, it is crucial to develop models for the identification of human activities. Egocentric vision seems be viable solution solve this problem, therefore many works provide deep learning solutions infer actions from first person videos. However, although very promising, most these do not consider major challenges that comes with realistic deployment, such as portability model, need real-time inference, robustness respect novel domains (i.e., new spaces, users, tasks). With paper, we set boundaries egocentric should applications, defining setting action recognition in wild, which encourages researchers novel, applications-aware solutions. We also present model-agnostic technique enables rapid repurposing existing architectures context, demonstrating feasibility deploy model on tiny device (Jetson Nano) perform task directly edge low energy consumption (2.4W average at 50 fps). Bringing 3D visualization into the online research article

The ICT revolution of the last decade impacts scientific publishing and changes the format in which articles are delivered and how results of scientific research are communicated. With researchers increasingly generating and referencing 3D data in their articles, the ability to accurately visualize that data in online publications has become extremely important. To address growing demands in on...

Bringing Classroom-Based Assessment into the EFL classroom

This  paper  describes  how  English  as  a  Foreign  Language  (EFL)  teachers  can  bring  reliable, valid, user-friendly assessment into their classrooms, and thus improve the quality of learning that  occurs  there.  Based  on  the  experience  of  the  author  as  a  an  EFL  teacher  and  teacher-trainer, it is suggested that the promotion and development of autonomy, intrinsic motivation...

Detecting Hands in Egocentric Videos: Towards Action Recognition

Recently, there has been a growing interest in analyzing human daily activities from data collected by wearable cameras. Since the hands are involved in a vast set of daily tasks, detecting hands in egocentric images is an important step towards the recognition of a variety of egocentric actions. However, besides extreme illumination changes in egocentric images, hand detection is not a trivial...

Online Action Recognition via Nonparametric Incremental Learning

We introduce an online action recognition system that can be combined with any set of frame-by-frame feature descriptors. Our system covers the frame feature space with classifiers whose distribution adapts to the hardness of locally approximating the Bayes optimal classifier. An efficient nearest neighbour search is used to find and combine the local classifiers that are closest to the frames ...

The Egocentric Nature of Action-Sound Associations

Actions that produce sounds infuse our daily lives. Some of these sounds are a natural consequence of physical interactions (such as a clang resulting from dropping a pan), but others are artificially designed (such as a beep resulting from a keypress). Although the relationship between actions and sounds has previously been examined, the frame of reference of these associations is still unknow...
